LA Times?

19 11 2007

la_lakers.jpgThe Lakers play Chicago tonight at home, and recently the previously moribund Lakers have proven that even when ol’ Black Mamba has an off night, they can still win. Lamar Odom’s playing well, and Farmar is relishing the increased role he’s enjoying this season. Even Andrew Bynum – the much-maligned subject of much of Kobe’s off-season fury – is looking like he just may well reach his oft-declared potential. Kwame Brown & Chris Mihm allow LA to throw a quantity of bigs against Chicago.

The Bulls… well, despite their excellent win against LA’s other tenant, Chicago’s enjoyed a torrid start to the season – but things are looking up. The game versus the Clippers showed a resurgent Ben Wallace, pulling down rebounds like the Big Ben of old… Ben Gordon throwing up shots with wild abandon – and hitting them.

But make no mistake: the shadow of the ‘Kobe Trade’ hangs over this game like a pall. The Bulls have blamed the trade rumors that swirled around them in the pre-season for their early season woes… the Lakers will be looking to show the world that this team can get it done, and Kobe himself will play with something to prove – and he never plays better than when he feels that he’s been maligned.

This is a game that LA can definitely win…
