Thanks For Your Concern, The Lakers Are Fine

22 03 2008

It’s no secret that I am a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers.
On a different forum that I sometimes ‘attend’, a member stated that by the end of this week the Lakers would have lost 3 games, and be 7th in the standings.

Western Conference Standings, as of now

So there we have it. So much for that theory, huh? Very good victories against Dallas and Utah – tho’ I’d have preferred it if they held on to those big margins.
I must admit that I was a bit worried when Pau Gasol went down with an ankle injury – this, on top of injuries earlier in the season to Andrew Bynum and Trevor Ariza… but something interesting has happened in all of this – besides the obvious leadership of Kobe Bryant.
Ronny Turiaf - stepping upDue to the injuries to key personnel, the Lakers have had to lean on Ronny Turiaf, and he’s been doing a very good job playing way out of position at the lynchpin spot. This has also allowed him to get some valuable time on court just prior to playoffs.
Again, not something the Lakers would wish to happen, but if they can get away with it, then it’s a positive.
Additionally, Lamar Odom’s always been an amazing talent, but it’s never been something that he’s done on a consistent basis in LA. But at the moment he’s one of the backbones of the team. Amazing.
Still fine being a Lakers fan… tho’ I am looking forward to having a full roster again.

My thought last year about Lebron’s Cavs were, why can’t Kobe do something similar with the Lakers? Well, here he is.

I just hope he gets disappointed in the playoffs ;~)

HUGE difference between playing in the East, and in the West.
And this year? The Cavs are 4th in the LEast with a record that doesn’t have them in the top 8 out West.

both of my teams are probably out of the playoffs. new jersey nets is hanging on for dear life in the 8th seed in the east while the nuggets can’t even crack the 8th seed in the west. this is a bad season for my teams.

And the Lakers have signed Ira Newble to a 10 day contract… makes sense.

And more so this year than last – this is why I fault the Cavs ownership. Even though they went for Redd 2-3 years ago, it makes me wonder how much effort they will put in surrounding James with better talent.
