Whilst browsing through YouTube I found this gem. It’s obviously from quite a while ago, as the Yokohama team is wearing a ‘W’ on their caps – denoting that they are at that stage the ‘Yokohama Taiyo Whales’ (1978-1992). In 1993, they became the Yokohama Baystars… I’m pretty sure that this is from 1990 or ’91.
The team they’re playing is the Hiroshima Carp – and the guy chasing the pitcher is none other than Rod Allen (played with the Seattle Mariners, the Detroit Tigers & the Cleveland Indians), who now is the color commentator for FSN Detroit. Nice one Rod, always good to see ball-players with fire in their bellies.
